A large number of physically and mentally challenged persons under the Network of Persons with Disability Organisation (NPDO) staged a demonstration here on Monday to press for effective implementation of government orders released for their welfare.

They staged the protest in front of the Commissioner of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens office.

Their main demands were issuance of Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) cards, pension, utilisation of three per cent share in the budget released for them every year, land allocation, housing benefits, 10 per cent fund allocation in Indira Kranthi Patham funds and proper monitoring of issuance of certificates of disability using SADAREM software.

They also demanded that fake disability certificates be eradicated.

Later, they submitted a memorandum to Ramana Devi, Deputy Director, Disabled Welfare.
