A final year student of B. Pharmacy course, V. Renuka, 20, committed suicide by consuming poison in a private hostel at Ghatkesar on Thursday, the police said.
The woman hailing from Vikarabad got married to a marketing executive, Hari Prasad, a year ago. She joined in a private hostel to complete her programme in Omega College at Ghatkesar and used to go to the house of in-laws at Kukatpally now and then. She looked dejected since she returned from the in-laws house two days ago but didn’t disclose anything to her friends in hostel, the police said. On Thursday, she didn’t go to college.
An inmate of the hostel, Deepti, found her in an unconscious condition around noon and rushed her to a local hospital. She was later shifted to another corporate hospital where she died while undergoing treatment, Ghatkesar Inspector, G. Sreeram Kumar, said.
Girl commits suicide
Minutes after chided by father for securing less marks in weekly tests, an intermediate final year student, K. Priyanka, 16, ended her life by gulping pesticide in her house at Bokkoniguda in Ghatkesar on Thursday, the police said. The student’s father, K. Laxma Reddy, reprimanded her for failing to focus on studies in the morning. The girl consumed pesticide and was shifted to a hospital where she died.
The Ghatkesar police on Thursday raided Green Chillies ‘dhaba’ on Hyderabad-Warangal highway and arrested its owner and seven customers on charges of serving and consuming liquor. Twelve beer bottles were seized from the dhaba premises. A case under the A.P. Excise Act was registered.
Held with ID liquor
The Commissioner’s Task Force (South) officials on Thursday caught a person, C. Kumar, 25, who was allegedly transporting illicitly distilled liquor on a scooter in old city. Thirty five litres of ID liquor sachets being transported in a gunny bag were seized from him.
33 held on charge of harassing women
In another case, the TF (North, West and Central) teams arrested 33 persons who were allegedly harassing women at St. Francis college in Secunderabad and Rathifile, Mehdipatnam and Charminar bus-stop points.
