PGECET may not be online this year

May 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The row between the Government and the private institutions has cast its shadow on the online examination of the PG Engineering Common Entrance Test (PGECET). In the absence of private institutions the Government instead of the online exam is considering paper-based exam this year.

Senior officials who took stock of the situation felt that they may not find requisite infrastructure for online tests in the Government colleges. Online tests need computer labs with highly safe environment so that the data cannot be compromised. Such facilities will not be available in all the Government institutions. There is no other alternative but to conduct paper-based test as in the past, an official said.

More than 2 lakh aspirants try their luck at the PGECET for entry into PG courses in engineering and pharmacy. Since the number was huge conducting online test for such a large number was not feasible from safety and infrastructure point of view, an official said.
