The common entrance test for PG courses in Osmania University (OU), Palamuru University, Mahatma Gandhi University and Telangana University will be held from May 30 to June 10. The test will be held at 23 centres in the city in three sessions, OU Vice-Chancellor S. Satyanarayana said at a press conference here on Monday.

OU has received 62,790 applications for various PG courses offered by the four universities and their affiliated colleges, and more than 84,000 hall tickets have been generated, Prof. Satyanarayana said. Candidates will have to download hall tickets from the OU website, affix photo and self-attest the application.

To avoid impersonation, the university has taken a slew of measures. The university has introduced two test booklet series, and candidates’ left thumb impression will be taken on the OMR sheets.

They can use only black or blue ball point pens to darken ovals on the OMR sheet, and they will not be allowed to carry HB pencils, Prof. Satnarayana said. Special observers will also be deployed to check malpractices, he added.

The results will be declared by June 15, and candidates can download their rank cards directly from the OU website. The common counselling for allocation of seats will be held in the last week of June, and classes will begin by July 22.

“Mahatma Gandhi University has informed that separate counselling sessions will be held for the courses offered by it. Combined counselling sessions will be held for the rest of the universities by OU,” the V-C said.

Exams are being held to fill a total of 18,950 seats, out of which OU has 12,170 seats, Mahatma Gandhi University 2,530 seats, Telangana University 2,400 seats and Palamuru University has 1,850 seats.

The test will not be held for nine subjects - Kannada, Marathi, Persian, Tamil, PGD courses in Urdu Paleography, Applied Linguistics, Functional Hindi and Translation, Geographical Cartography and Biostatistics, as the number of applications is less than the number of seats available.
