Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao has demanded that the government pay right compensation to the farmers who lost their land under High Tension transmission lines.
Addressing the farmers who staged a dharna before the Collectorate in the district headquarters here on Wednesday, Mr Hanumantha Rao said that HT transmission lines were laid without informing the farmers and without paying proper compensation to them.
No response
“Neither the Collector nor the government is responding to the repeated appeals made by the farmers. How can the officials register cases against farmers demanding right compensation?” asked Mr. Hanumantha Rao demanding that the cases registered against them be withdrawn immediately.
The programme was organised by Sarpanchula Ikya Vedika and participated by TJAC steering committee member Andol Krishna, former MLA Sashidhar Reddy and others.
Kodandaram visit
Meanwhile, in a related development, TJAC chairman Kodandaram is scheduled to visit Jangarai village in Chinnashankarampet mandal on Thursday and interact with farmers who lost lands under HT lines.
Some 500 affected farmers from different villages are expected to participate in the interaction programme.
