Panel on BC status to Muslims wants in-depth background papers

The advisory board meeting of the Commission of Inquiry on the socio-economic and educational conditions of Muslims had its second meeting here on Friday.

Several study/background paper writers have presented their draft papers on the subjects assigned to them at the meeting.

The meeting held to review the progress of writing-up of study papers/background papers and also on the sample survey taken up by the Centre for Good Governance was chaired by Chairman of the Commission G. Sudhir.

Members of the advisory board, who are acting as mentors, have given their suggestions in finalising the papers.

Prof. Amitabh Kundu, who chaired one of the sessions, said study papers should be drafted in such a manner that they would be more useful for a rigorous analysis of various aspects. Prof. Faizan Mustafa of NALSAR University and Prof. Suleman Siddiqui, former Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, gave suggestions on making recommendations to the government. Further, the meeting discussed the need to gather data on social and educational backwardness of Muslims.
