The appearance of Mohammed Pahelwan at the Nampally Criminal Court complex in connection with Majlis MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi’s attack case kept police on the edge on Monday.

Police tightened security at the court complex anticipating that Pahelwan’s appearance would trigger tension. Special police pickets were posted at the main gate and entrance of the court hall to keep a tab on those moving suspiciously. Advocates, respondents and visitors were allowed inside only after thorough frisking, said Nampally Inspector Ch. Sridhar.

Security was enhanced following intelligence inputs that supporters of Pahelwan and MIM would assemble in the court, and that it could cause tension. After arguments that went on for half an hour, Pahelwan was sent back to the Cherlapally jail from where he was brought.
