More than two years after the murderous attack on the Majlis legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi, there is a move by the accused Mohammed Pahelwan’s kith and kin to bury the hatchet.

A large number of people, including influential persons of the Yafai tribe to which the Phelwan belongs, met Majlis president Asaduddin Owaisi at the party office in Darussalam on Thursday.

About 40 to 50 persons led by the Imam of Jamia Masjid, Barkas, came to the Majlis office in the afternoon.

A few of them remained closeted with Mr. Owaisi in his chamber for quite sometime.

They reportedly sought to strike a compromise and urged Mr. Owaisi to “forgive and forget” the incident involving his younger sibling. But the Majlis leader stood his ground and said the law would take its own course, it is said.

Sources said it was not members of the Pahelwan’s family but his “well wishers” from Barkas who met the Majlis leader on Thursday . However, when contacted Mr. Owaisi refused to comment. “I don’t want to say anything on this matter,” he remarked.
