Hospitality provider and hotel room aggregator Oyo announced plans to add about 200 Townhouses across the country, including 60 in seven cities of South India.

Of the 60, at least 25 will be in Hyderabad and Telangana, said its Founder & CEO Ritesh Agarwal after launching its second Townhouse in Jubilee Hills here, with the first being in the Delhi National Capital Region on Wednesday.

Asked about how the Oyo Townhouse was different from the Oyo rooms, he said the Townhouse sought to deliver a seamless experience through a format that operates as a hotel, home, cafe and merchandise store - all in one place, with the intent of providing a perfect complement guests’ lifestyle.

Soon, Mr. Agarwal said the City of Pearls would boast of an Oyo Townhouse in other locations like Banjara Hills, Gachibowli and Punjagutta too. “I called on Minister for Municipal Administration K.T. Rama Rao and he has promised all possible cooperation,” he said.

The Oyo mobile application, he said, was the friendliest and one with which a person could find a room in less than a few minutes. It had already seen 10 million downloads since it was launched in 2015, leading to 3.7 million check-ins, he pointed out.

Oyo was growing steadily 2.8 to 3 times, year-on-year, he said and the day was not far when it would surpass the country’s largest hotel chain that had 8,000 rooms on its own, declining to take its name. He recalled that starting with a single hotel in Gurgaon in 2013, Oyo had now expanded to over 200 cities, offering upto 70,000 rooms across its network.
