Observers foresee a stiff contest in Rein Bazaar between TDP and MIM
Battered roads with their underbellies exposed and loose sand and gravel strewn around greet the contestants as they crisscross the lanes and by-lanes in Yakutpura Assembly constituency. Open manholes and overflowing drains surface at quite a few places too but campaigning for the upcoming GHMC elections goes ahead after the usual assurances by the aspiring ward corporators. A tight contest is on the cards in Rein Bazaar, Kurmaguda, Santosh Nagar, Talab Chanchalam, Gowlipura and IS Sadan wards of the Yakutpura Assembly constituency, an MIM-stronghold. However, owing to the low Muslim population in Gowlipura and IS Sadan divisions, the party is not fielding any candidates from there.
. Contaminated drinking water is a chronic problem here. Although desilting works for many nalas have been going on for quite some time, nothing much has materialised. Certain areas like Aman Nagar, parts of Yakutpura and low lying areas in IS Sadan are inundated during heavy rainfall. Locals also point out that Indiramma Housing Scheme, for which money was collected already, is yet to see the light of the day.
