Engineering aspirants will have 90,011 seats in 201 engineering colleges this year and among these, 61,441 seats will be under the Convenor quota in 192 colleges, including the University colleges.
Last year, 1.04 lakh seats were available in 219 colleges. It means 14,000 seats will be less this year including 9,000 seats in the Convenor quota. As per the statistics available, the JNTUH has given affiliations for 174 colleges with an intake of 80,121 while Osmania University has 9 colleges under it with 5,150 seats. Kakatiya University has 1,680 seats in four colleges.
Officials said that though the AICTE has approved 250 colleges with an intake of 1,26,315 seats the respective universities have cleared affiliation for only 201 colleges approving 90,011 seats.
Under the 70% seats allotted to the Convenor Quota, Osmania University has an intake of 3,584 seats in 9 colleges, JNTUH has 53,621 seats in 165 colleges while Kakatiya University has 1,176 seats in four colleges. As many as 3,060 seats are in the 14 Government colleges where there is no management quota.
All the 3,060 seats in 14 Government colleges will be filled by the Convenor through web counselling. Among these highest seats of 1,380 are four JNTUH colleges, 825 in three colleges of Kakatiya University, 420 seats in two colleges of Osmania University, 180 seats in Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda, 160 seats in JNAFAU, 75 in Prof. Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University and 20 in P.V. Narasimha Rao Telangana Veterinary University.
