Police on Tuesday arrested a professor of Osmania University for allegedly forging signatures of officials and fabricating documents for wrongful gains.
V. Jagadeeshwar Rao, in-charge director of the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC), was arrested by the Central Crime Station officials and hard discs of three computers from his office and documents were seized.
The professor was accused of changing the minutes of the seventh Board of Management meeting of the centre.
“Rao changed a paragraph of the original proceedings and introduced content to his advantage,” CCS DCP J. Satyanarayana said.
While the meeting decided to buy an OB van for the centre, Rao allegedly changed the matter stating an Indigo car should be bought. Similarly, he tampered with the content relating to salaries of employees.
Changing content
He was also accused of changing the content with regard to re-instatement of an ex-section officer of the Centre, Madhusudhan Reddy, who resigned his job to contest elections.
Inquiry
Following the allegations, the OU officials ordered for an inquiry with professor David Krupadanam and reportedly found him guilty of fabricating the papers.
Subsequently, officials of the Consortium for Educational Communication, which funded several projects of the Centre, too probed into the allegation. They too, sources said, held him guilty of misdeeds. The Centre's ex-section officer lodged a complaint against Rao nearly three months ago leading to registration of a criminal case.
“We brought copies of the original proceedings from Delhi and got them analysed with forensic experts. It was proved that Rao forged signatures and presented fabricated papers,” the DCP said.
