Students clashed with police at Osmania University campus on Friday when they were prevented from taking part in the ‘Chalo Assembly’ protests at the Andhra Mahila Sabha arch.

Police used tear gas to disperse the students when try tried to remove the barricades. Three students sustained injuries in the clashes and were treated at the health centre inside the campus.

Kicking aside the steel barricades, the protestors tried to force their way past the policemen who were deployed in large numbers. The students pelted stones at the policemen, who lobbed tear gas shells.

With the police resorting to lathicharge, the students retreated but targeted the OU police station building by hurling stones at the police teams there. All routes leading to OU and the trunk route via the campus were closed for traffic.
