To make opening of a savings bank account easy, the State Bank of India (SBI) introduced ‘SBI Tab Banking’ here on Tuesday. In the new scheme, the bank’s representative will visit the customer and through the tablet will take photos and scan identity cards and address proofs that are required to open an account. Through the tablet, the representative will also help the customer to file an application that would be uploaded to the bank’s central hub.
Within a minute of uploading the application, the customer will get an instant account opening message on cell phone. Besides, the bank’s representative will also deliver the welcome kit including cheque book and ATM card. According to SBI officials, the entire process can be completed in two minutes. The unique tab banking facility was inaugurated by DGM, SBI, (Personal Banking) Hyderabad, Janaki Ballav Sahoo. The first customer to get the service was noted actor and writer Tanikella Bharani, who opened the savings bank account and received welcome kit within minutes.
