The online Osmania University Common Entrance Tests (OUCET) for admission into various post graduation courses began at Kshatriya Engineering College (KEC) at Armoor on Monday, the first time that the exam is being held outside Hyderabad, said Telangana University Admissions CET director K. Ravinder Reddy.
University PRO V. Thriveni acted as observer and KEC principal Ch. Parameswar as chief superintendent. The exams would be held thrice a day till June 13. The first sitting is from 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m.; second from 1 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. and the third from 4.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
For the five-year integrated M.Sc course, 72 candidates took the exam while 40 were absent and for the integrated MBA course, 35 appeared and 27 abstained. For MA Theatre Arts and MA Arabic, 36 took exam and 10 did not show up, said Mr. Ravinder Reddy.
Till now, the OUCET used to be conducted only in Hyderabad. However, with the initiative of TU vice-chancellor P. Sambaiah and registrar K. Shivashankar, it is being held in the districts. It was a good opportunity for rural students to appear for the PG entrance tests, he said.
