Karimnagar ACB Court Special Judge P. Bhaskar Rao has sentenced Village Revenue Officer (VRO) to undergo one-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) and pay a fine of ₹5,000.

According to ACB sources, the Judge convicted Bommareddypalli VRO of Dharmaram mandal, Junjipally Rajaiah, to undergo one-year rigorous imprisonment and pay a fine of ₹ 5,000 under Section 7 of the PC Act of 1988 and another one-year RI and fine of ₹5,000 under Section 13 (1) (d) read with 13 (2) of PC Act. Both the sentences shall run concurrently.

It may be recalled that the ACB trapped Rajaiah on January 21, 2011 when he demanded and accepted bribe of ₹4,000 from villager V. Pushpalatha of Mujampalli village in Velgatoor mandal to do an official favour to mutate land in her name.
