A car rental agency owner, who allegedly cheated several car owners by hiring their vehicles and evaded payment of rent, was arrested by the CCS on Tuesday. The police recovered 34 cars worth Rs. 3 crore from him.

Shaik Umar Alisha (30), a MCA graduate of Madinaguda along with Srinivasa Reddy of Kurnool district and Rakesh Kumar Reddy of Kadapa district, started a travel agency, 7 Cabs Private Limited at Madinaguda. “The trio posted advertisements on online portals for hiring cars on rental basis. After entering into agreement and taking the cars they did not pay the rent and threatened the vehicle owners,” Additional Commissioner (crimes) Swathi Lakra said. They even sold a few cars with the help of fabricated vehicle documents, she said.

Basing on a complaint lodged by the car owners, the police nabbed them and recovered the cars.
