The Atlanta Foundation, along with four other corporate forums, is organising its annual corporate cycling event — ‘The Republic Ride-2013’— at the Gachibowli Stadium on January 26 on the occasion of the Republic Day.
An exclusive women’s ride, wherein 100 of them will participate in a bicycle ride to be flagged off from the stadium, will be a unique feature of the event this year. This will be in addition to the signature ride of 100 kilometres outside the stadium. Map for the ride is available on http://www.atlantafoundation.org/cycling/eventdetails.php.
Anuradha Kumar, spokesperson for the Atlanta Foundation said a ‘Republic Criterium Race’ too would be organised as part of the event, in which 50 cycling professionals are expected to participate. Joy rides of two, five and 10 kilometres will be organised within the stadium. All participants would be given certificates.
Further, a team of students from Madanapalle will render the national anthem, and another from Bhimavaram will perform Aero-Skipping on the occasion.
Corporate companies will send their own teams for participation , while individual riders will need to pay a registration fee of Rs.1, 250.
The event is supported by NASSCOM, the American Chambers of Commerce, IT and ITES Industry Association of AP, TiE, and FICCI, and partners include corporate entities such as L&T Metro (Hyderabad) Rail, Broadridge, ADP, Airtel, and Mahindra Satyam among others.
Proceeds from the event will be used to fund the education of underprivileged children from four government schools namely, Anjaiah Nagar Government Primary School, Siddique Nagar Government Primary School, Gachibowli Primary School, and Gachibowli High School.
