NTR Gardens, which was closed after the bomb blasts at Dilsukhnagar, was reopened for visitors on Sunday. Lumbini Park and Sanjeevaiah Park will be opened in next few days.
DCP (Central) V.B. Kamalasan Reddy told reporters that NTR Gardens was reopened after reviewing security systems on the premises. Training was also given to 157 security guards on identifying explosives and other abandoned objects in the park.
Guards will check visitors with door-frame and hand-held metal detectors. Police officers will periodically hold meetings with HMDA officials to review the security situation in the parks.
HMDA environment member Rajendra Prasad Khajuria said surveillance cameras were installed at strategic locations, and that the movement of visitors would be monitored.
Close to 10,000 visitors throng the park during weekends and 7,000 on working days.
Safety measures
“We have taken all precautionary steps to ensure proper security,” he said. Bags, tiffin boxes and other personal belongings would not be allowed into the park and a cloakroom was provided to deposit them.
“We will conduct decoy operations in commercial establishments’ to check the functioning of security systems. If anyone fails to comply with norms, we initiate stern action against the errant owners,” Mr.Reddy said.
