Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy directed the officials of town planning and engineering wing to immediately clear bottlenecks for widening the drains.
The Commissioner on Thursday reviewed the status of work related to storm water drains. He said that the GHMC has identified 842 properties as critical bottlenecks out of the total length of 370 kms of storm water drains surveyed so far.
The Commissioner directed the Town Planning and Engineering wing officials for joint inspections of the properties and said that individual sketches should be prepared by the Town Planning Wing to be handed over to the Engineering Wing for further action.
Notices
The Commissioner said that required statutory notices will be served on the encroachers. In case of Government lands, necessary action will be taken for verification of the ownership and in case of private lands, acquisition of properties will be taken up, he added.
He advised the affected property owners to cooperate with GHMC for widening of the storm water drains for a free flow of water and also to avoid inundation.
