Government employees under the aegis of the TNGOs’ Association celebrated the Bonalu festival at the Collectorate by offering ‘bonams’ to temples of village Goddesses on the premises, here on Friday.

This tradition is observed by employees every year in the Telugu month, Aashadam.

Among those who participated in the festival included Collector Yogitha Rana, Joint Collector A. Ravinder Reddy, Bodhan Sub-Collector Sikta Patnaik, MLA Bigala Ganesh Gupta, TNGOs’ Association district president A. Kishan, municipal corporators and employees. They carried the bonalu on their heads to the temples amid the drum beats.

At a separate place at the Mayor’s Street Mayor Akula Sujatha along with local residents celebrated the bonalu festival. She carried the bonam on her head to Sri Kalika Devi temple and offered it to the deity.
