Officials differ with Mohammed Mahmood Ali

They say that the draft proposals on creation of new districts are more or less final

August 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 11:24 am IST - HYDERABAD:

In spite of repeated assertions of Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali while releasing the draft notification of new districts that the proposals were not final as the government was open to suggestions from public, his remarks did not cut ice with senior officials who insisted that it was more or less final as the concerns of public were well considered.

Mr. Ali told a media conference that the new districts were proposed keeping in view distance travelled by public to reach Collectorates and other important offices in the existing headquarter towns.

He said the maps of the new districts and divisions will be uploaded on the website “newdistrictsformation.telangana.gov.in” on Tuesday.

The government proposed to take options from employees like it was done during the bifurcation of State and deploy them in districts. A letter would be addressed to the Centre to do away with the zonal system as per Presidential Order to enable the State government to appoint staff with district as unit, sources said.

Meanwhile, the list of revenue divisions and mandals made an interesting reading as several new names were coined.

For instance, Nizamabad division gets Nizamabad (north) and (rural) mandals in addition to Nizamabad (south) which is already existing. Gandipet will be a new mandal in Rajendranagar division of Shamshabad district.

The interior Anthergaon near Ramagundam will be a new mandal in Peddapally district.
