Offer to regularise illegal connections

The Water Board is extending the facility of regularising illegal water connections after collecting penalty charges. This offer is open only for 15 days. Thereafter criminal cases will be booked against those found to have illegal connections.

Instances of people obtaining illegal water supply connections in violation of the HMWSSB Act has come to the notice of the Water Board. Those indulging in such activities will be levied service charges of Rs.300, two times connection charges and three years water consumption charges. So far 135 criminal cases were booked against those possessing illegal connections, the Board said in a press release.

No second connection

The Board clarified that no second connection will be issued for the same premises. If the customers required more water, they have to go for higher size connection.

The Board urged the citizens to apply for regularisation of illegal connections by approaching concerned general manager.
