The Valmiki Foundation, along with Srinivasa Hatcheries and Rotary International District 3150, initiated an Egg Bank programme here on Friday wherein 50,000 eggs were donated to various NGOs, orphanages, and old age homes.

“Education and nutrition is where India lacks. We need to give our children both of these. Through this initiative, we wish to continuously provide nutrition to orphanages and old age homes through eggs,” said Suresh Rayudu, managing director, S.H. Group.

Calling the initiative a promising one, Valmiki Hari Kishan of Valmiki Foundation said: “This is the beginning. We will include many more NGOs, orphanages, and old age homes. We want to eradicate malnutrition.”

A representative of Sri Bhavani Mahila Mandali added that initiatives like these help the cause of social work. “Special attention must be paid to the execution process so that no malpractices occur,” said Thammareddy Bharadwaj, a film producer and director.
