The death triggered protests from the students, who on Monday boycotted their classes and stayed away from their work. They charged that the upkeep of the nursing hostelswas not up to the mark, which led to rampant mosquito breeding.

Nursing school students alleged that neglect of the hostels was a deliberate attempt by the hospital management to make them vacate the premises.
“Our tests have confirmed that the student was dengue positive. We have also set up a panel that will come up with a detailed report on nursing hostels ,” said OGH Superintendent V. Sivaram Reddy.
