The annual Numaish is here again. Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy will open the 46-day annual consumer fair on Tuesday.
This time round there will also be a Pakistani stall dealing in various goods. About 15 traders from the neighbouring country have set up outlets as part of the event after a gap of four years.
The entrance ticket is priced at Rs. 20 and will be the same on all the 46 days.
The exhibition offers a variety of articles, including garments, electronic goods, kitchenware and dry fruit. Woollens from Kashmir are a big hit, so are the apparels from Lucknow, Jodhpur and Delhi.
Interestingly, the stall of the prisoners of Central Prison, Cherlapally, will offer a wide range of products made by convicts.
Visitors will have a gala time at the recreational venue.
Apart from the regular giant wheel, Columbus, Octopus a new joyride ‘ranger’ is being introduced. “Its speciality is that it revolves 360 degrees in a clockwise direction,” says Mohammed Shaker Baqri, manager.
The parking fee has been fixed at Rs. 50 and Rs. 20 for the first four hours for four-wheelers and two-wheelers, respectively. An additional Rs. 10 and Rs. 5 will be collected for every hour after the stipulated four hours.
Parking spaces
As many as 10 places have been identified for parking purpose. They include Government College, Nampally, Gagan Vihar complex, Chandra Vihar complex, Manoranjan complex and the Housing Board building.
Parking lot owners have been warned against collecting exorbitant charges. “We have told them that their tender will be cancelled and action taken against them if they collect anything above the fixed parking fee,” R. Sukesh Reddy, Secretary, Exhibition Society, said.
The Exhibition Society will conduct competitions in rangoli, mehendi, flower arrangement and garland making, while a water colour painting competition will be held on Artisans’ Day on January 27. Ladies’ Day will be observed on January 8 and Children’s Day on January 31. A well baby contest will be held in the first week of February.
