With a lot of youngsters staying away from their parents and the nuclear family trend fast catching up among families in the capital, elders have a tough time attending to their daily chores and maintaining their health. Given the changing lifestyles, the demand for old-age homes is going up.
Independent facility
To cater to the needs of elders, Heritage Elder Care Services Private Limited opened Kshetra, an independent and assisted living facility for elders, at Moinabad.
Nicola Watkinson, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner, Minister Commercial (South Asia), Australian Trade Commission, inaugurated the facility on Monday.
Kshetra provides a caring environment for senior citizens on a monthly payment, ranging from Rs. 24,000 per head to Rs. 32,000 for two persons.
However, interested people will have to pay a mandatory caution deposit of Rs. 1.5 lakh, which will be utilised for medical emergencies. It will be refunded upon exit from the home after deducting dues or damages. There is also the option of paying security deposit, which facilities a deduction in the monthly payment.
Kshetra also offers personal support services like housekeeping, laundry, 24-hour emergency response system including a doctor on call.
Trained staff
The staff is trained in proper personal care techniques such as bed, bath and wheelchair assistance and personal hygiene assistance.
Kshetra was launched to address this ever increasing need for old-age homes in the context of the recent trend of nuclear families, said Dr. Gangadharan, Founder and Director of Heritage Elder Care Services.
