New water connections will now be approved within 18 days of application. The Hyderabad Metropolitain Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has introduced an online app-based, single window application process which allows applicants, inspection officers and approving officers to speed through.

Earlier, water connections were approved within 45 days or more.

As per the single window procedure, which was launched on December 1, applicants are required to submit their forms along with supporting documents on the website: www. hyderabadwater.gov.in .

Applicants will also have to pay the processing fee while applying online.

Unlike the present system where connections are processed at the head office, under the single window, connections except bulk connections, will be processed at the sub-division or division level.

Applicants also do not have to approach GHMC to obtain road cutting permission because the water board has taken permission from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to cut roads for all heir work.

Applicants, except those from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, will have to pay road restoration charges. “Earlier, related documents used to be filed late and caused initial delay. Inspection officers also used to take more time to report back to the office with their approval and rejection lists.

Now, with the new app, officers are expected to log in their approval or rejection on the day they visit the spot for inspection,” said Vijay Kumar Reddy, Director of Revenue, HMWSSB.

The water board has instructed its officials not to cause delay at their end. “Penalties will be levied on the officers, if the files are not processed within stipulated time period...” a board authority said.
