The GHMC is planning to adopt GIS survey for assessing property tax with an objective to capture every property electronically.
A comprehensive tender is soon to be floated to select an agency to help collect property tax, trade license, professional tax and advertisement tax from a single building using the technology, said Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu.
He also informed that he was positive about the government’s nod for assessment of properties in the government lands as the Supreme Court direction clearly says that “mere payment of property tax cannot entitle any ownership right on the property”.
The municipal corporation is issuing provisional trade licenses on the spot to all business establishments with a notice to submit their relevant documents within a stipulated time. Managements of restaurants, nursing homes and function halls, however, will have to submit their documents before obtaining trade licenses.
Cheque-bounce cases
With regard to the issue of cheque-bounce cases, the Commissioner said in the last four years 12,000 cases were identified, Rs.23 crore was realised while there were 2,000 cases pending for recovery of Rs.7 crore.
Lakes protection
At a separate meeting with Ranga Reddy Collector A. Vani Prasad, Mr. Krishna Babu said the GHMC was determined to protect all the 128 tanks under its limits. A sum of Rs.18.7 crore was sanctioned for chain link mesh proposals for 47 tanks.
The Deputy Commissioners and Tahsildars concerned of the respective areas are the team leaders of both the departments for coordinating the work of demarcating boundaries and fixing pillars. The Collector said notices are being issued to encroachers of the full tank level.
It was decided to fence the pen land in FTL first and initiate legal action. The municipal officials have been directed to remove the temporary sheds and huts constructed within the FTL. Boundaries have been affixed for six of the 12 tanks at Rajendra Nagar mandal.
The Commissioner urged the Collector to identify the open government lands sans legal hassles to hand them over them to the GHMC for construction of compound walls.
