Notorious chain-snatcher arrested

A notorious chain snatcher who was involved in 24 cases was arrested by S R Nagar police on Saturday. The police recovered 811.5 gm of gold ornaments worth Rs. 20.15 lakh at his instance.

Speaking to presspersons here, DCP (West) A Venkateswara Rao said that Mohammed Faisal Shah Ali Jabri (28) alias Abdullah alias Sohail of Asifnagar targeted elderly women. “Faisal committed the crime alone. He moved around in localities and snatched chains from women walking on the roads. He used to keep a knife with him and threaten people if they tried to catch him and was involved in 24 cases,” Mr. Venkateswara Rao said.

In a separate case, the Langer Houz police arrested three persons on charge of committing burglary at a house.

The police recovered 27.2 tolas of gold ornaments from them.
