In a move that would force the district administration to act, as many as 52 farmers from Julkal village have submitted a memorandum to the VRO stating that they were not being paid proper compensation for the land acquired for erection of HT towers.

“I am having 0.37 guntas of land and a 400 kV HT line passed through my farm consuming about 90% of the land. The compensation I had received was only ₹80,000 and it was not in accordance with the Collector’s direction. The officials threatened us with filing cases if we obstruct the work. Hence I request the government to see that I can get compensation as directed by the Collector,” said one Muttangi Balamani in the memorandum.
