Majority of the 700-odd colleges failed to submit their financial statements for revision of fee to the Admission and Fee Regulation Committee (AFRC) even as the last day for submission ended on Friday.
The APSCHE chairman, P. Jayaprakash Rao, said that though it is not mandatory that the colleges submit reports of financial expenditure incurred by them on both the academic and administrative fronts, as per the directions of the Supreme Court where the fee reimbursement issue is pending it should have been done. The court had asked colleges to submit detailed reports on the expenditure incurred after implementing the AICTE norms.
“The exact number is yet to be confirmed but only a few colleges have submitted the reports to the AFRC,” Prof. Rao said.
The AFRC is expected to prepare a report by March 15 which is likely to be submitted to the Supreme Court by the government when the issue comes up for hearing on March 22.
Previous records reflect that only six colleges had submitted their income-expenditure report in the proper format out of the 700-odd engineering colleges and few hundreds of MBA and MCA colleges in the State.
