Normal life remained affected as rains continued to lash the city for the third consecutive day on Thursday. The Met observatory at Begumpet recorded 43.2 mm of rainfall till 8.30 p.m. The city roads turned into cesspools with overflowing sewers particularly in areas like Kukatpally, Sanathnagar, Ameerpet, Khairatabad, Champapet, Malakpet, L.B. Nagar, Aramgarh, Shamshabad, Rajendranagar and Masab Tank.
Residents of L.B. Nagar, Rajendranagar, Meerpet, Hassannagar and a few areas in the Old City faced problems as water entered their homes. Complaints of extensive power disruption were also reported from many areas in the city and those under Ranga Reddy district.
More rain forecast
Most of the MMTS railway stations witnessed rush as people chose to travel by MMTS trains to avoid getting caught in the rains. The Met authorities forecast intermittent rainfall on Friday too, with a few areas likely to receive heavy rainfall.
