What could have just been another humid day, a grim reminder of the fast approaching exams, turned to be an extremely memorable one for scores of students from the city participating in The Hindu E-Plus Challenge - 2014 .
As the students danced, sang, debated and put their best foot forward, the venue of the event, Teegala Krishna Reddy Group of Institutions campus in Meerpet, turned into a talent pool.
The CMR College of Engineering and Technology was adjudged the winner of the Hyderabad region finals. They were closely followed by the first runner-up St. Martins Engineering College and second runner- up MLR Institute of Technology. The panel of judges declared the winners after taking in to account the team average of the respective participating colleges. These three winners, along with six other finalists from Vijayawada and Visakapatnam zone, will fight it out at the finals to be held on Tuesday.
At the regional round held on Monday, around 2,000 students from 30 graduate and postgraduate colleges vied with each other for top honours in five different categories- paper presentation, group discussion, quiz, elocution and creative activity. The event is sponsored by Tata Teleservices and hosted by Teegala Krishna Reddy Group of Institutions.
The uninterrupted solo and group dance performances by students of various colleges set the tone for the day and the audience erupted in cheering and clapping, lifting the spirit of the participants. In the creative activity category, TKR College of Pharmacy won the first prize with their fusion dance performance. Vignan Bharathi Institute of Technology came second and Institute of Aeronautical Engineering came third in this category.
The winner of group discussion was MLR Institute of Technology whereas the second and third position went to CMR Technical Campus and TKR College of Engineering and Technology respectively.
In the elocution category, MLR Institute of Technology bagged the first prize and CMR College of Engineering and Technology received the second prize and St. Martin’s Engineering College won the third prize.
In the paper presentation section, CMR Technical Campus bagged the top position followed by CMR College of Engineering and Technology in second place and Institute of Aeronautical Engineering in the third place. In the quiz category, it was Vignan Bharathi Institute of Technology who were declared the brainiest and CMR College of Engineering and Technology came second and TKR College of Engineering and Technology came third.
