No private sale of Housing Board land: court

A division Bench of the Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice A.V. Sesha Sai on Wednesday said the court will not order sale of Housing Board land through private negotiations.

The alienation must be through public auction, said the Bench, dismissing the case filed by A. Balamani and four others who wanted the court to direct the Housing Board to allot them 1,200 square yards of land in Ameerpet of Hyderabad. The court was told that GO was issued in 2001alloting the land to these petitioners. When the Board did not sell it, they sought legal recourse. The single judge dismissed the writ petition and present writ appeal was filed. The Bench said the rules do not permit such sale except by auction.

Anticipatory bail to MLA

Justice C. Praveen Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to Tuni MLA Dadisetty Ramalingeswara Rao (Raja), shown as accused in 10 FIRs registered in connection with the agitation seeking BC status for Kapu community. The incidents led to the burning of a train.

Police registered 65 FIRS and the MLA’s name figure in 10 of them.

Case dismissed

Justice A. Ramalingeswara Rao of the of Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday dismissed a case challenging the letter issued by the Telangana government according permission to regularise services of 1,175 Junior Linemen (JLM) on contract and working in Discoms i.e. TSNPDCL and TSSPDCL.

The judge was dismissing writ petition filed by T. Saidulu and 13 others of Nalgonda challenging regularisation of their services. It was averred that a settlement was arrived at with some unions and select people were being favoured. The judge took note of the fact that the letter of the State Energy Department clearly mentioned that the regularisation of services is subject to outcome of the cases pending before the High Court and Supreme Court and thus decided to dismiss the case.
