Following alert from the Centre about multiple terror attacks in the city, the police are relying on surveillance cameras to keep an eye on trouble-mongers, especially in the West zone, where most of the star hotels in Hyderabad are located. “We told the hotel managements and party organisers to ensure that secret cameras are affixed and are functioning. No permissions will be given to events at places without cameras,” said the West zone DCP V. Satyanarayana.
Fifteen special mobile teams would continuously patrol the main roads, hotels and other entertainment places on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. Policemen in plainclothes would be positioned at events attended by crowd pullers and celebrities. Already, the West zone police raided 12 hookah centres on Monday night and warned the owners against illegal activities.
Cyberabad police want to see this New Year accident-free and appealed to revellers not to risk their lives by driving at high speed in the name of celebrations.

Satyanarayana recalled the death of three youngsters, who were riding a bike on the night of December 31, 2012 and died after hitting a divider near Green mosque. “To check accidents, barricades would be erected on main roads. Special teams would be on the lookout for youngsters racing on bikes,” he said.
