Justice A.Rajasekhar Reddy of Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday said that Charmee Kaur, the cine actress summoned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to investigate the drugs scam is not shown as accused by the authorities and there is no need for the presence of advocate when she is questioned. However, the judge granted several safe guards.
The judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by Charmee. The judge heard the counsel for the petitioner and the special government pleader for nearly one hour. The counsel for the petitioner said that a woman cannot be treated like this and Supreme Court had set guidelines. The special government pleader said that they shall follow the law and there is no harassment. The judge made it clear that she should be questioned only from 10am to 5 pm . “ If some more information is needed, the SIT can meet her next day. While the questioning takes place, one woman police officer shall be present. The authorities cannot collect samples of hair, blood or nails without her consent. The law of land shall be followed in letter and spirit,” the judge declared.
