The two-day postal stamps exhibition – NizamPex-2017 has got off on a sparkling start at Sindhi Bhavan here on Friday.

Collector A. Ravinder inaugurated the philatelic exhibition by lighting the lamp.

The director of Postal Services, Hyderabad region, Vennam Upender and senior superintendent of post offices Suchismitha Swayis were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Ravinder Reddy said that postal stamps showcased the Indian history, culture and traditions.

“Government of India published several stamps on the heroes of nation, its projects and citadels, which were useful in understanding our country,” he added.

Expressing pleasure over the postal stamps exhibition that was being organised after 14 years, he said several people had the habit of collecting old as well as the latest stamps. The practice, called philately, is a great habit indeed, he said and appealed to students and people to visit the exhibition to have a glimpse of history.

Post Master General Col. M. Eleesha will attend as the chief guest at the valedictory tomorrow.
