NIA to set up unit in city

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Central counter terrorism law enforcement agency in the country, is setting up a unit here. This will be the first branch of the NIA outside Delhi.

The decision to establish a unit office was taken to probe terrorism-related cases in the four Southern States, along with Maharashtra and Goa. NIA officials are looking out for office accommodation in Cyberabad area and are planning to appoint technical and legal experts on contract basis, sources said. An officer of the rank of DIG would head the unit here.
