The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has brought Indian Mujahideen (IM) co-founder Yasin Bhatkal to the city in connection with the February 2013 Dilsukhnagar blast case after a court in Delhi granted the agency a two-day remand of the accused.

The Delhi court directed the NIA to produce Bhatkal in the court concerned on or before September 23.

Officials said Bhatkal would be produced in the Nampally criminal court amidst tight security for his alleged involvement in the blasts.

The agency had earlier brought Bhatkal’s aide Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi on a two-day transit warrant and produced him at the Nampally court, which granted the NIA a 15-day custody of the accused.

Officials said questioning Bhatkal and Akhtar together would enable them to gain more insight into how the Dilsukhnagar blasts were carried out.
