NGT stalls SRDP work at KBR Park

May 28, 2016 12:33 am | Updated 12:33 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The State Government’s push to start works around KBR Park to give wings to their Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) received a setback on Friday.

The National Green Tribunal, which heard the case pertaining to the proposal of chopping trees in Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills to make way for the project, has ordered status quo and adjourned the matter to July 1.

The Tribunal ordered the State Government to maintain status quo in the KBR Park surroundings till the next hearing after it was brought to its notice that a fence was removed and a compound wall demolished near KBR walkway.

Though the NGT had taken a suo moto cognisance of the issue earlier this month, it allowed the implead petition filed by the Hyderabad Rising, an umbrella group of activists and citizens who are opposing the project.
