A neonate, days old, was found abandoned at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) on Monday. Police suspect that the baby may have been abandoned due to gender bias.

The cops received information about a baby wrapped in a cloth on platform 50. The child was handed over to the State-run Sishu Vihar and a case was booked. Preliminary examination of CCTV footage from the platform revealed an elderly man had abandoned the baby. “We have to examine the footage from other cameras, about 140 of them, to get more details of the person who left the child,” said Afzalgunj Inspector P. Ganendar Reddy.
