The case of clinical trial to test the efficacy of a drug which was conducted on a youth from Jammikunta took an interesting turn as one of the volunteers of a pharma company Boga Suresh confessed to enacting a ‘drama’ of blood vomiting to escape being booked by police.
Suresh, a native of Kothapalli was hospitalised by his family members on Saturday evening when he reportedly vomited blood after his friend Ch. Ashok whom the former motivated to take the test turned mentally unsound. He was shifted to MGM Hospital at Warangal for treatment. But, Suresh escaped from the hospital on Tuesday and landed in Jammikunta on Wednesday.
Talking to newsmen at Jammikunta, Suresh, who is also undergoing drug trial, said that he had motivated Ch Ashok of Kothapalli to take part in the trials for easy money. Following a reaction of the drug, Ashok became mentally ill and was admitted to Erragadda mental hospital in Hyderabad 10 days ago.
Sensing that Ashok might open up and tell that Suresh had motivated him to undergo drug trial, Suresh played the ‘drama’ on Saturday only to escape the police case. He said that he had collected his own blood from hand and stored it in his mouth. He then spit the blood in a bid to display vomiting. He admitted that he had played the drama only to avoid police case.
Minister appeals
Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Eatala Rajender has appealed to the youth not to fall prey to clinical drug trials and not spoil their health by taking drugs indiscriminately by signing as volunteers for various pharmaceutical companies.
Incidentally, the clinical drug trial victims hailed from Huzurabad assembly segment represented by the Minister. Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, he said that the local youth were turning themselves into ‘guinea pigs’ for sake of easy money. Though the volunteers should not accept another drug trial for at least three months, they took multiple drug trials, he stated.
Informing the youth to give the list of the persons involved in the clinical trials, he assured to provide proper medical treatment. He also promised to provide financial assistance from the SC/ST/ BC welfare departments and jobs by organizing job mela very soon.

He also warned that they would register criminal cases if the laboratories were found guilty.
