New Rs. 5 coin to honour Mother Teresa

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will shortly introduce a new Rs. 5 coin with the theme ‘Birth Centenary of Mother Teresa', a press release from AGM, RBI, Hyderabad, Ajit Prasad here on Tuesday said.

The face of the coin bears the lion capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend ‘Satyameva Jayathe' in Hindi inscribed below. The left upper periphery will have the word ‘Bharat' in Hindi and right upper side will have ‘India' inscribed. The coin will also have the denominational value ‘5' in International numerals below the lion capitol.

The reverse of the coin will bear the portrait to Mother Teresa in the centre, flanked on the left upper periphery with the words ‘Mother Teresa' in Hindi and left lower periphery with the word ‘Janmashati' also in Hindi. The right periphery region will have the word ‘Birth Centenary'.

Below the portrait of Mother Teresa, the year ‘1910-2010' will be inscribed in International numeral, press release said.
