New districts: T-JAC for focussed approach

Leaders also discuss drought situation in State

May 16, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:38 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The programmes committee of the Telangana Joint Action Committee has resolved that a more focussed approach to the formation of districts is needed. At a meeting here on Sunday, it was felt that all sections of society needed to be taken into confidence, seeking their active participation in the entire exercise.

Among others present at the meeting were Convenor Pittala Ravinder and representatives of the Electricity Employees JAC, the Retired Employees Association and the Telangana Mala Mahanadu - A. Raghu, D. Venkat Reddy and B. Ramesh, respectively, apart from advocate N. Prahlad.

Briefing presspersons after the meeting, the leaders said that the alarming drought situation across the newly-formed State needed to be tackled in a geographic and scientific manner. The Government had to address the concerns of people, especially small and marginal farmers and farm labour, and come to their rescue, they said.

Another resolution was that June 2 should be observed as ‘udyamakarula atmagaurava dinotsavam’ in memory of those who had participated in the protracted struggle that led to the formation of Telangana as the 29{+t}{+h}State of the Indian Republic.

These apart, the meeting also resolved that a congregation be organised at Mahbubabad in Warangal on May 28 to coincide with the rebellion against YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in the town six years ago.
