The Bhagwan Mahavir Jain Relief Foundations Trust, which is operating 24 dialysis machines at Koti Vaidya Vidhan Parishad Hospital, is adding 12 more dialysis machines at Ramdev Rao Hospital, Kukatpally, for kidney patients needing regular dialysis.

The foundation, which provides dialysis facility at a concessional rate of Rs. 400 for a single session, is also going to add 15 more dialysis machines at Koti Government Hospital in the near future.

So far, since 2009, the foundation has managed to provide 60, 295 dialysis sessions to over 950 kidney patients from various parts of the State.

Inauguration

“Over Rs. 1 crore has been collected from the donors to set up the new dialysis centre at Kukatpally. This facility will help patients from Kukatpally, who need not travel long distances to reach to dialysis centres in the city,” said Ashok Kothari and Dhiraj Lal Kapadia, Foundation trustees at the hospital.

“In addition to cheap dialysis, we have also provided 39,000 erythropoietin and iron injections worth Rs. 3.5 crore to patients.

Rates at private facilities

In private facilities, each session of dialysis will cost anywhere between Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 2,000 for patients. This puts a lot of financial pressure on the families of kidney patients,” said Inderchand Jain, trustee of the foundation while interacting with press persons here on Thursday.

The foundation is also providing cheap dialysis facilities by collaborating with private hospitals in various parts of the capital including Mahavir, Sushruta, Venus, Sunshine, Devishetty, C.C. Shroff and St. Theresa Hospitals.

“The funds collected for the novel scheme are strictly through donations from philanthropists,” the trustee members said.
