Orators are excellent. That is what the little ones appeared as they held forth on the relevance of the Quran.

Students of Azaan International School stole the show at a programme organised here on Sunday evening to felicitate nine students who memorised the Quran.

Like veteran scholars, they spoke effortlessly in Arabic, Urdu and English on various aspects of the Quran. Abdul Hannan Sharif and Farooq Azan, particularly, held the audience spellbound with their speeches.

Burhanuddin Qasmi, director, Markaz-ul-Maarif Education and Research, Mumbai, said acquiring modern education along with religious instruction was the need of the time.

Dr. Yousuf Azam, chairman of Azaan Group of Institutions, said the school believed in preparing students for the challenges of this life and hereafter. “We offer holistic education covering all aspects of life,” he said.

Wasi Ahmed Nomani, Supreme Court lawyer, Moulana Rasheed Naseem and Moulana Syed Nafees Akbar Owais also spoke.

Later, the children who memorised the Quran while pursuing their regular syllabus were felicitated by offering ‘Dastar Bandi’.
