A Division Bench of the A.P. High Court comprising Chief Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar directed the A.P. Wakf Board and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to clearly demarcate the notified Wakf properties within Naya Qilla area of the Golconda fort, Hyderabad within two months.

The Bench was disposing of a writ petition filed by Mohammad Afzal and another person.

The petitioners complained that without demarcating the notified Wakf properties which included Mustfakhan Mosque and some graves, the Hyderabad Golf Association is altering the nature of land in the name of grassing.

After perusing the report of the former advocate general who visited the spot, the Bench directed the undertaking from the HGA regarding the activity to be taken up there.

The Bench felt that walls of the Golconda Fort should also not be defaced in any manner.

SCR GM summoned

A Division Bench of the AP High Court comprising Justice Ghulam Mohammad and Justice K.S.Appa Rao on Monday directed the General Manager of the South Central Railway to be present in the court on Tuesday to explain why the compensation payable to land losers due to railway project was being delayed.

The Bench was dealing with case filed by Y. Bairiah and others whose lands were acquired by the railways in 1994. The appeals field by the State government regarding the compensation payable were finalised in 2005.

The Railways have taken a stand that the appeal filed by them is yet to be finalised.
