The newly elected Nasscom Product Council (2017-2019) will pursue a multi-pronged strategy to support innovation and growth of IT product companies, including through engagement with academia. In doing so, one of the areas of focus will be deep technology. The focus would be on work in the areas of artificial intelligence, augmented reality/virtual reality, and robotics, chairman of the council Atul Batra said.

Speaking to presspersons, on the sidelines of Nasscom Product Conclave here on Friday, he said the Council would work towards partnerships between the academia and product companies, especially the start-ups, to develop IP. This apart the engagement with the institutions would help contributing to suitable changes in the curriculum, in terms of the next generation of technology.

On IT product companies, he said with the massive digital transformation of enterprises underway in the country would spur the demand for the products. “Last couple of years, we are having consumption of technology and products in India by Indian business. It is going to happen at an enormous scale. Lot of products we build in India will get consumed in the country,” he said.

Other initiatives of the Council, he said, would be on facilitating exchange of information, providing mentoring support to the companies, connecting various stakeholders in the eco-system and engaging with policy makers and government.

A release from Nasscom said the conclave was an initiative to nurture, develop, accelerate and scale the product companies.
