Communist Party of India State secretary K. Narayana has conceded that the party has failed to gauge the public pulse before finalising its strategies for the just concluded elections to State Assembly and Lok Sabha.

Slams CPI (M), YSRC

Dr. Narayana said the party suffered reverses because of its alliance with the Congress. The CPI State secretary who contested from the Khammam Lok Sabha seat lost the election to his YSRC rival P. Srinivas Reddy. Dr. Narayana attributed his defeat to the tacit understanding entered into by CPI (Marxist) Telangana unit secretary T. Veerabhadram with the YSR Congress and alleged that the CPI (M) worked with the sole intention of defeating the CPI in the polls.

The CPI senior leader justified his charges on the tacit understanding between the CPI (M) and the YSRC claiming, however, that the scope for bringing out such tacit deals was remote. “I withdrew my remarks in the interests of the Left unity,” he said. Dr. Narayana spoke to reporters on the sidelines of the CPI State executive meeting, the last such event in the united State, which started here on Wednesday.

He said the party would announce separate committees for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the next couple of days.

Replying to queries, he said the differences the CPI had with the CPI (M) were temporary. “I withdrew my comments against the CPI (M) leaders to put an end to the ongoing war of words between the two parties.”

The CPI executive discussed about the political situation the two regions in Telangana. and Andhra Pradesh and demanded that the new Governments which were set to take over the reins shortly consider lifting the ban imposed on the Maoists. The party expressed concern over the victory of the BJP at the Centre claiming that this could intensify attacks on secular and democratic movements in future
